All,

Grafx Software have set up a new news group on their server for Fox
programmers: grafx.public.vulcan.foxpro. You are most welcome to make use of
it. It sits alongside the news groups for Visual Objects and Vulcan.NET.

Grafx have been involved in the xBase community for years. At first they
sold third party products for Clipper, and developed their own add-on
database products COMIX and Fortress. Eventually they took over the
development of Visual Objects (Clipper's successor) from Computer
Associates. Then, starting from scratch, they wrote Vulcan.NET, to provide
an xBase language for .NET. Vulcan.NET makes use of Visual Studio as its
primary IDE.

People working with FoxPro have a lot of issues in common with those who
work with Visual Objects and Vulcan.NET. This new news group provides a way
for us to help each other.

woody,

Oops, I was rushing to catch my plane to the UK for the upcoming Vulcan
conference (I live in Australia) and left off that minor detail :-) So
thanks for picking that up!

Hi Paul,
excellent move.
I just finished my Vulcan examples using the Foxpro OleDb Provider. Could
even solve a problem with German umlauts not being displayed correctly
(which I learned some German Foxpro users couldn't find a solution for). I'm
sure Woody does know<s>.

Regards
Dieter

Having done some early work with the Foxpro OleDB provider myself, I'm
looking forward to seeing your session on it at the Vulcan DevShare UK this
coming week. See you soon!

It was incentive for me to start using a second news server. I
had never bothered before. My software (Agent) does not like the
address as above and wants simply
news1.cavo.com

Gene,

Yes, news://news1.cavo.com is the link that will usually bring up a news
reader like Windows Live Mail so that you can view the news group. The name
of the news server is news1.cavo.com. (Maybe I'll post more clearly once I'm
over the jet lag, travelling for > 24 hours is pretty rough)

I see you've already posted over there, that's great. It's the sharing of
knowledge on the news groups, and the people you meet there, that make them
great.
